I like Girls With Slingshots. It will be sad to stop reading it. But I won't do anything to support Blind Ferret even indirectly.
(And yes, Thunt, you're doing the right thing by taking the high road)

Thanks Thunt! I love how you always take the high road, even when others try to bait you into not. Says a lot for your character. This is not the first time I've seen someone try to goad you. Respect!

Actually, Girls with Slingshots is leaving Blind Ferret, as well. It was announced a week or two ago. Makes me wonder why there is an exodus of talent from the company.

I have met both Sohmer and Lars at a convention a few years back where they did a webcomics panel and spent most of the time just talking about whatever. They both seemed like good guy's particularly Lars who was light hearted about everything, although I did get the impression Sohmer was the kind who took things out of proportion and a bit to far sometimes.

While I do like LiCD and particularly LFG I think Goblins is a better, more engaging and well written comic by far and I will not hesitate to show my support and stop reading BF comics and throwing huge piles of money at the G:AR game in a few days.

As much as I want to know the full story I think keeping civil and not revealing anything is the best plan, but if they get childish and spill something then please post everything in as nice and un-aggressive way possible.

GWS moved on a month ago, actually - their hosting et all has been moved over to Hiveworks. (That move went over pretty smoothly, but it also transitioned on a weekend so issues from downtime were mitigated.) Danielle Corsetto has been getting more projects that aren't directly GWS related so maybe it was just time.

I'm very glad to hear this. I wonder why BF still lists GWS and Goblins among the things it publishes. Dishonest, that.

BF is still doing fulfillment for GWS merchandise until they're out of stock and/or Danielle works out alternative merchandising. But they aren't doing ads for it anymore so they should probably remove it from their list of sites.

I'll give them a couple of days before I start calling them names about not removing Goblins. Websites are easy things to forget to maintain...

Wait, Thunt said that Lar was not being sarcastic with his well-wishing, but Thunt didn't say he, himself, was not being sarcastic!

There are so many layers here, I'm going to need a stout, preferably dwarven, mining team, and $300,000. Stat!

But in all honesty, I'm having trouble being angry at the BF folks right now. I don't know what other issues may have arisen in the past; I only know about the unstable server and the tweets from last night. I thought the schedule lockdown was due to the book publishers fearing that a reduced updating schedule would delay the release of subsequent books, but I might be mistaken there.

Tarol isn't slinging mud, so I don't really feel the need to get huffy in his stead.

But just so you know, I am prepared to hate them any way you want.

I found this on the Goblins Facebook fan page. I don't know who runs it or if they have direct communication with Thunt, and I haven't seen this collection of info anywhere else, but here's the latest post:

Sorry for the delay on all of this, but I wanted to give all the news a chance to gather together before I made a post about it. Facebook sometimes limits the number of people that a post reaches if you've made several posts recently, and I wanted to try to make sure this reaches as many people as possible. So... Here's a wall of text!

1) Yes, as some of you have noticed, the goblinscomic.com site is down right now. Some technical changes needed to be made, there is a mirror site available at www.goblinscomic.org.

2) You may notice some important detail changes about the site- particularly that the schedule has changed. Updates are changed to now be every four days at noon (Thunt time), meaning 4pm EST. This change has happened because of a long ongoing struggle with the needs of Thunt's life along with the realities of the work of the comic, and his commitment to quality artwork and detail.

3) Goblins is no longer contracted and distributed through Blind Ferret. Largely, this will only affect us by changing some websites and that might cause a bit of inconvenience here and there. Please be patient and understanding while these technical details get sorted out.

4) There was a separate legal snafu regarding the Goblins: Alternate Realities card game and subsequent Kickstarter. It was resolved fairly quickly, but did cause the project to be delayed. It will go live this coming Monday. Keep an eye out for more about that and check out the Goblins: Alternate Realities Facebook page!

Yeah! I think that just about covers everything!

Keep checking back for news and links--- and thanks for being a part of the Goblins universe.

So if it's every four days, does that mean that the day of the update shifts every week? Oh! Now it'll be harder to notice when Thunt misses one! You fiendish devil!

Yeah, he wanted to do this schedule a while ago, and it makes sense, from a creator's standpoint. He gets plenty of time to work on an update and spend time with his family, without slowing all the way down to one per week. This way, he can get an actual routine going, rather than trying to sprint from deadline to deadline.

Nooo, we're gonna lose the pretty colouring! Which means more work for Thunt and less of the awesome shading for me. :( (Good thing for the people who didn't like colouring, of course).

Sad to see Forest go, but I'm sure he'll have success in whatever artistic venture he moves to next.

Also, Lar is one of the nicest guys I've ever met. He's not being sarcastic in his well-wishes to me and you should support him in every way you can! :cheer:
I notice you say nothing of Sohmer. "If you can't say anything nice, say nothing at all"?

Shame about Forest, I did like his colouring. I'm fine with Thunt doing the colouring but wonder if he plans to get a new colourist down the line or if he's doing all the colouring himself forever

Just noticed that goblinscomic.org has been updated with a new background. :)

But I'm slightly surprised that the advertising is still handled by Blind Ferret Media. :stab:

Like the new background illustration, not to fond of the new background color. Undecided about the cards.

The color is too, I dunno, pukey. Is that a word?

Well, it's obviously to promote that card game kickstarter. And the brownish colour is that of some map. So it fits the purpose.

It's a word, but it's probably not a colour.
