Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
This is going to be highly impractical for any type of stealthy approach, but Holger would love to have the staff with continual flame cast on it

That works pretty well - Holger does not seem like a subtle sort of guy

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
He can be when needed, he has been on several of the stealth/scouting trips we've taken
But it would fit him very well to just radiate magic spoonhole

That's what I mean - hes good at everything but at heart he seems more of a flashy frontman than a sneak through the shadows guy

Oh please.. Stroke his (my) ego a bit more!
But yeah he definitely is, especially if there are people watching that need to learn just how amazing he is
I find it surprisingly hard to play a guy who's that full of himself

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Lol! Yes, you rolled those starting stats with such exceptional skill! It was all you
Wrt the alarm horn, I think it's worth the scout party taking it, but I don't mind who actually carries it. It's got a much greater range (600 feet) than Message (120 feet), so there's that, but Nem could always go ahead of e.g. Randy who could alert the non-scouts.
Like I say, there might be options here to bluff our way into the orc camp a bit (still assuming it's orcs), maybe chat up the guards as a distraction or what have you. I don't think putting Randy on team diplomacy would work though. He seems like he's got too much baggage there

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Yup, except he's the only one fluent in orc as far as I know. Holger and Tess could potentially charm two orcs at once and have a friendly conversation if they speak common, but seems the chances are a bit slim of that.

Don't you know that diplomacy amongst orcs consists of bashing each other in the head and the one left standing is the winner? Randy might just fit right in!

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
Might be worth a shot though, at least for some initial info if there's a guard at the front gate. Show up, be charming, get called out, run the fuck away, drag everyone into a massive melee.

Or....
Show up, be charming, run away, lead the guards into an ambush.

That also works. Holger would need to do the talking, but Nem can probably put her past as a dancer/fire eater to good use I expect.

Probably be better to have it cast on something that can be added or removed from floating above the tip? Then you can remove and pocket it when it calls for stealth. The flame can't be extinguished, but can be hidden.

But then it wouldn't be garish and attention-grabbing
..So what are we going to try for our plan? Holger and Nem as a charm-offensive with Randy and Zephyr in reserve, and the rest of the party waiting in the wings? Ulmwin might be a good addition to the front-party with his bard skills either with H&N or instead of Nem?

The entrance is on the south side, so on your approach, you have the rocky outcropping that the entrance is worked into as 'cover', at least from anyone at the entrance. The previous night, you circled well around and approached from the south, halting at a distance when you saw the guards and the handful of bodies staked out on the bluff above the entrance.

How to bluff using the staff:
1: Put Randy's omega bomb gem on top of it.
2: Swing staff, fling stone in process.
3: WHO ELSE WANTS TO TEST THE POWER OF THE STAFF?!

Coljin will gladly 'flame-ize something for Holger. It'll be when we have a slow day when a second level spell slot isn't used up by bedtime. Probably not today
Do we have a guess-ta-mate how close to 4th level we might be after snake mummy bashing?

Pretty sure that's not how the staff was intended to be used, but I don't hate the idea of it being able to be used as a sling staff...
((Built one that I took to school during our AP physics trebuchet competition. Nearly gave the teacher a heart attack when I launched a golf ball over the nearby bridge...))

We have to go through! But I sadly fear the tortured victims will never live a fulfilling life again and it's better to just put them out of their misery right away.

Remember what that blight did? Man, really messed me up. I don't wanna even get close to these guys just in case- Let's just do it from a distance.

I have to admit that Spider's method of introducing a new PC is ...intriguing. A little hair raising as well. At least for the new guy.

Well, I will leave it up to Spider to decide what I can say but your finding Dornikal strapped to the rock is not where I first 'met' him in world.

Re: The Sundered Way - OOC
You know, for a brief moment it DID look like actually moving on without checking out the orc camp was an option... That'd have been a fun thing for Spider to work with given this.
