Re: Civilization 6: Argue Your Tweaks
The problem with presets is that it means people wander away from the thread for an extended period and just assume the preset will save everyone's ass. That's what I'd do.

Maybe you could dothe dungeon run w/o updating the game month. So you could update the dungeon run more frequent and only when the dungeon is finishes advance the month.
Or you can ignore our choises and kill us in the dungeon as always.

I don't kill unless the dice go bad, you know that
I may just give dungeons a difficulty and roll for that then have say 2d2 "interesting events" that happen... I'd just start typin' and see where my fingers go; that's how you got the Harrow Deck of Many Things the last game.

As much as I'd hate to pause the game, I think this may be the best option.kida wrote:Maybe you could dothe dungeon run w/o updating the game month. So you could update the dungeon run more frequent and only when the dungeon is finishes advance the month.
Or you could elect a leader of the dungeon run. Someone who makes all the decisions for the group so you could quickly do a dungeon run. With a little generic guidance of how other dungeoneers want their characters to ask, and one person making the decisions you could do it relatively quick without having to put the main plot on pause. While it would suck for those who don't make the decisions, you could try to slip more opportunites to do this beside dungeons (like large scale wars, or a raiding party sneaking through the streets of an enemy civilization, or if pirates chasing down a merchant ship, or even a first meeting with another civ) so that there are more opportunities so everyone gets a turn.

I've got about 8 "random dungeons" labeled in my timeline to be discovered, so there will be no shortage of dungeon runs... I'll think about it some more and probably wing it once the first one is discovered.

Re: Civilization 6: Argue Your Tweaks
Options for new Dungeon exploring methods.
Option 1: Be given several voting options and that vote = the entire dungeon run
Option 2: make skills, hobbies, jobs finally worthy of something by making them essential/useful during a dungeon run. The more "skills, hobbies, professions or items brought" that are useful or can be useful make the dungeon adventure easier. (but remove any voting at all)

Re: Civilization 6: Argue Your Tweaks
Entire dungeon run at once would be a bitching writeup for me any time I did a dungeon. I am considering it, though. I kind of like a "one roll only, based on stuff brought into the dungeon, skills and whatnot."
Occupations, Skills and Hobbies have always been "worthy of something", people just never really brought them up in SAs.

Probably because most of our FH's and SA's were based on our Occupations, Skills, and Hobbies.

I meant in the way of "Oh, and I'm relying on skill X (Occupation)" or something like that

I think the moment my friend has some free time to finish the new irc script I'll be using to keep track of trance/tweaks/aspects/everything else, I'll start. I can't keep thinking to hold back just because I'm an ultra slob and the guy I'm living with at the moment is absolutely sterile... heh

Re: Civilization 6: Argue Your Tweaks
Just so it's out there, these are my current votes:
Race: Dvarves (Can't resist the steampunk)
Steampunk (Does this really need an explanation?)
Resource Rich+ (Resources are important for building stuff; better resources means better inventions)
Mountain+ Volcanic ( Secluded area with lots of resources, volcano can help power machines; more wounds helps against rivals)
Redstone (Science!)
Tolerant (Didn't like the racial tension last time, and it makes diplomacy easier)
Blessed Realm ( Guaranteed crits are always nice, should help with the rivals)
This gets us a lot of rivals, but I think we should be able to handle them.
Also I'm not a huge fan of extra tweaks. The "positive" tweaks already give some substantial drawbacks

Forever Alone cancels out rivals nicely, too. So.

Re: Civilization 6: Argue Your Tweaks
I've looked at the idea of setting up a poll but they're limited to 10 items at a time, so not going to be doing that.
Going to add "Post-Apoc" as a Tweak as well to Environments.

Re: Civilization 6: Argue Your Tweaks
If I were to post a link on Reddit linking back to the game (and Civ 5) when it starts... or maybe ask them for tweaks or ideas, which subreddit would be most beneficial to do so? Or should I even bother?

Whether you should bother or not would be dependent on how many people we already have vs how many you want.

Re: Civilization 6: Argue Your Tweaks
I've been thinking about another list of Tweaks... technological ones that grant special abilities (Like a Slingapult, or the TF2 Sentries you're so fond of building). Maybe make them available if you take no Tweaks that cost more tha 1. Whaddaya think? Too many Tweaks is worse than not enough, though...

If you are open to new tweaks suggestion. How about Borg like assimilation ability?

Re: Civilization 6: Argue Your Tweaks
I have a race suggestion....based on what kida just said. Something that is an assimilation of many pieces to form a sentient being, that, if broken apart, can reform itself again. Though, as the mass of the object decreases, its intelligence also decreases.
