Re: April 6, 2015: Wut?
I would have titled this one "Stop Hitting Yourself!"
That must have been a -nasty- crawl... still, all Forgath needs is another level and their troubles are over...

"Stop hitting yourself" might be considered too spoilerish as title...
"What?" is better...

So much better in color.

I wonder what Idle and Boast will look like without their curses.
Apparently the skin color of Idle is all fur so she might indeed be an elf.
Would the tattoos be linked to one or more curses? Like the sun tattoo might make her feel very warm all the time which explains her style of clothing. And is that an upside down demon face on her leg?

And it's a nice continuity nod to Forgath offering to take Kin's leash off when he can. I think that when he does hit level 5, he's gonna need to use it.nikohl wrote:Heh! Now I see what Glemp was kkkk-ing about.

It would be interesting if one of the curses is that they are both the opposite gender that they usually are. It would put an interesting spin in Idle's clothes and Bowst personality.
Even if that isn't the case, the curses could be interesting! Maybe Bowst is actually a goblin and Idle is something else...
But anyway, that shoots down the theory that Idle might be The Wizard or have some relation to him/her.

The giggles from silly curses makes some sense now.
More curious is the lack of an escape from the Chasim for over a week now. This suggests to me they started the same time as the GAP & HAP etc.

I still think Idle is a goblin, she's just been given a rabbit face and ears, which would explain the different nose. And I don't see how she could no longer be the Wizard, I think its still entirely possible.

Re: April 6, 2015: What's ailing you?
Deja vu. Big boastful fighter, not very smart, falls into any trap you care to lay in front of him... yeah. It's gotta feel like familiar territory to Forgath. Only, he'd better watch out. Bowst is not Minmax, and the differences could be... let's say, troublesome.
But Idle's already decided, I bet. They need Forgath to be fifth level and still friendly enough to cast a bunch of Remove Curses. That means adventuring together. She'll try to smooth things over, albeit snickering. A lot.

I sure hope Bowst have some significant differences from Minmax. Having two Minmaxes would be just lazy, story-wise.Sessine wrote:Deja vu. Maybe he's a mirror to MM? Like that episode of Buffy when Drusilla comes back and we get to compare her unchanged behaviour to Spike's character development. Bowst could be an example to MM of what he was, and inspire him to keep along the changes he's made.Makes Noises wrote:I sure hope Bowst have some significant differences from Minmax. It would make sense that there are some similarities. Who puts a bunch of points into intelligence and wisdom when making a fighter?

Re: April 6, 2015: What's ailing you?
I am astonished, that the Kliks apparently keep Idle and Bowst trapped. (Panel 8)
How do they do that?
And why didn't Bowst get the idea that the klicking things are the reason a fellow adventurer is without armour and weapon?
Did those two not carry metal with them?
(Bowst seems to have a crystal sword, we'll have to wait a bit more to know what we can fill in for his character sheet, but patience will not have a high number.)

Re: April 6, 2015: What's ailing you?
As a D&D rube I felt the need to do a little research, and came across this:
I wonder if Forgath is going to run into any curses he can't dispel at level 5. It'd be a shame if Kin's collar required a high level caster to remove, though possibly quite humorous if Idle's ears resisted removal.D&D Wiki wrote:Remove curse instantaneously removes all curses on an object or a creature. Remove curse does not remove the curse from a cursed shield, weapon, or suit of armor, although the spell typically enables the creature afflicted with any such cursed item to remove and get rid of it. Certain special curses may not be countered by this spell or may be countered only by a caster of a certain level or higher.

Re: April 6, 2015: What's ailing you?
So, long time reader (since around the start of Book 2), first time poster.
From the discussion about the previous panel, it definitely looks like Idle and Bowst are the Wizard and Fighter that Thunt alluded to. My guess is Idle's wearing of numerous pouches would be for spell components which Wizards need (Sorcerors typically don't). Pipes are also a typical affectation for wizards throughout fantasy. On her many tattoos I was secretly hoping for her to be a Psion and for them to be Psionic tattoos, but being only 3rd level would make that highly unlikely. More likely they are either tribal, wizard, or curse-related. Looking back at past female goblins, notably Saves a Fox and Duv, Idle's facial features and real ears definitely don't exclude her being a goblin or possibly being a half-goblin. The nose could definitely be an added affectation to the bunny ears, but Forgath's thinking of them as "normal people" makes me think she might instead be more among the humanoid races rather than the "monstrous" ones. Her height being relatively equal to his also seems to put her outside of being a goblin. Maybe a petite moon elf or half-elf?
On Bowst, I'm wondering if he's actually a Psychic Warrior. As demonstrated in the Maze of Many and MinMax's Psion alternate, Thunt is not averse to dabbling in the Psionics Handbook of D&D. Bowst's wielding a crystal sword is a trademark of Psychic Warriors and they need not be any more intelligent than regular Warriors to call upon their innate psychic abilities. It would make for an interesting twist.
On their being stuck in the Chasm for a week, judging from Forgath's fall I'm guessing it's a fairly deep and steep-walled chasm. He was at -3 when he rolled off the bridge, -5 before the Klik Beasts began to slow his descent, and -7 when they deposited him safely on the chasm floor (that's 2 combat rounds of falling and 2 more of slowed descent). Idle and Bowst wound up in there after escaping the Cursewalk and being level 3 their climb ability would probably be pretty poor. Deep chasms like that can go on for quite a long way, too. Their overall lack of equipment/clothing could have been due in part to the variety and appetites of the otherwise benign klik beings, which Bowst seems to have alluded to.
That's most of my speculation about the current comic and their situation.
For the record, yes, I have a soft spot for Psions. In my all-time favorite D&D campaign I played a Psion Kineticist that had a penchant for blowing things up or setting them afire. I typically out-damaged the wizard in our party.
