I found this online today and thought it might be a decent resource if anyone's interested in turning their hand towards making simple animations of pixelart sprites. You can import from image files / existing gifs and it seems pretty user friendly

While I haven't been making as much art as I would like to, for pixel stuff I've been enjoying GrafX2. It's limited in the number of frames it can handle per animation, but can also work in a layers mode, can handle fairly large images and even has some fancy tricks with its brush effects and pallete editor.
