"Well aye'm not sure if digging in this heat is smart. Aye figure we can leave it in the sun to dry downwind. Maybe can figure out who they were once the heat and wind turns'm to jerky?"

Dornikal finds a few of the de-bugged orc bed rolls that had been saved for packaging, which should be able to be contrived into a body sling.

"Yer plans fine 'cept the digging. Aye've had the misfortune of being out in the sun. No ones going to get more than a bit of sand cleared before they start feeling it. Aye'll volunteer to carry the body a ways off, who ever it is needs to have prayer said over them."

((And if the item's bearer's heritage provided that protection on top of that provided by the item... Hmm. Ah well. ))

((Well, the temperature protection bit IS separate from resistance to fire damage, so not entirely redundant on that end of things. Laboring in the sun isn't the same as taking a fireball to the backside.))

Re: The Sundered Way
I'm not sure how common of knowledge the sword's effects are? When we ID'd it, was that announced to the group or was this something that Zephyr would have discovered on attunement?

Maji would volenteer Zephyr to dig, but he's currently busy concentrating on casting.

The land tells Maji that there is a giant spider about 4 miles to the South East... And down. Way down.

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy looks doubtfully at Coljin. "You look a little green. Do you want someone else to go down to deal with the body? Until we get it clear, you won't be able to cleanse the well, and wrapping a water logged corpse is a nasty business. Whoever does it is going to need either Holger or Ulmwin to clean them up afterwards because they are going to positively reek."

Dornikal shakes his head slowly,
"Aye'm not much of a swimmer but maybe hanging from a rope...? Dealing with the dead isn't something aye'd shy from otherwise."

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy gives a weak smile. "Before we go looking for trouble, maybe we'd better deal with what we have. It would be a bad deal to get into a major scrape and turn out not to have any water available. It's all right. I'll go down and give it a try." He looks at Dornikal. "If you hear me blow the horn, bring me up fast." He indicates the Horn of Silent Alarm.
He digs his lantern out and places it in the bucket, drops his breast plate and cloak, boots, and other gear, taking only the glowing sword and a dagger and the horn. He cuts off a strip of blanket to wrap around his nose and mouth and cuts up the rest of the blanket into strips to tie around the other blanket and body, stowing the blanket and strips in his belt. He rigs a sling around his chest and under his arms loose enough he can get out, and backs over the edge with his feet planted on the side.
"Lower away." Indicating both the bucket and himself. "When I've got the body secured I'll signal to pull it up with the horn. I'll stay down with the bucket until you can drop the rope again. I'll then blow the horn to pull me back up."

Coljin nods in thanks to Randy. "Yeah, Ily and I got a bit sick to our stomachs. And I checked, it is rightfully dead, not undead, so that is one thing you don't need to worry about."

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy strips down and secures himself, and Galt moves to help Dornikal in lowering the ranger. As he swings down into darkness, the bucket swinging from the end of the other rope alongside him, the moist, fetid air becomes more and more pungent, by the time he's a few hundred feet down, he's feeling a touch unwell...

The ranger proves to be of sterner stuff than Coljin. His eyes water some, but he throws off the affects of the smell. "Yuck! No wonder Coljin looked green!" ((Yay for no nose and a cast iron stomach! ))

Randy keeps his last meal down as he sees the glint of water reflecting back at him below, and the outline of what must be the body.

Re: The Sundered Way
Randy pulls out his glowing sword and looks for a place in the well wall to wedge the blade so he has light and something to hold on to once he lets go of the rope.

Re: The Sundered Way
The stone walls of the well are constructed soundly, but you manage to spot a small gap you should be able to wedge it in. Not enough to bear your full weight, but should give you something to hold on to so you don't have to tread water the whole time to stay afloat.
The water is coming up quickly as Dornikal and Galt continue to lower you.

Re: The Sundered Way
When Randy is just above the water, he yells up for them to stop. He takes a good look around while he tries to figure out the best way to do this so he spends the minimal amount of time in the water.
