Re: MotBM (OOC)
Yeah, checked mine, and got the ones I wanted. So do I deduct gold for the one healing potion apparently in my possession? Because if not, I do think I can spend 25 gold on also getting augury, just in case.

Re: MotBM (OOC)
Nah, the three healing potions are free because I'm nice
Also augury sounds weird and interesting so go for it.

Re: MotBM (OOC)
My only spell with a cost is Find Familiar, and I've got the resources for 2 castings if I need it.
Actually, bit of a long shot, but just had the idea today. Could I spend the rest of my starting gold scribing an extra spell or two into my book? With 150gp I could get another Lv3 spell, or three Lv1 spells (not counting Illusion ones which I get a discount on).

Re: MotBM (OOC)
Did you pick a magic item already dusk? Cos you can have a spell scroll instead (up to a level 3 spell) if you like and copy that into your book. Believe it or not, it'll cost 300GP excluding any required component costs.

Yup, that could be handy Just bear in mind it takes a full action to cast, by which point you will have fallen up to 576 feet (assuming normal earth-like gravity).spiderwrangler wrote:Racial levitate, and that's it for me.
It ain't feather fall

Hmm, nah. In that case I'll stick to my Bag of Holding. Just have to hope we come across some scrolls or spellbooks at some pointthinkslogically wrote:Did you pick a magic item already dusk? I'll just have to make sure falling is intentional on my part... or that I'm falling 600 feet.

Re: MotBM (OOC)
Ah yeah, the bag of holding! I forgot
Sure. To be honest, in that circumstance I'd probably get you to roll a d4+2 to see how far you fall.
My thinking is that one round is 6 seconds, in which you can cast a spell (1 action) and run like 30 feet. If a decent runner can make it 30 feet in about 3 seconds at non-sprint pace, it stands to reason that the remaining action probably takes the rest of the time, give or take some "on-the-move" prep. However, a fall would be surprising and might throw you off, so that's what the dice roll would be for
Anyway, this is probably entirely moot! I just haven't had anyone use these spells before and it's fun to think about them while we wait to get started

Re: MotBM (OOC)
Well, that rules out the magic item, then. I'll have enough for the glyph, not enough for the glyph and an item. Brazier I've already ruled out as too awkward. And for the life of me, I've not the foggiest where I would use the illusory script. Then again, I don't know that I'll have any other use for the money, so why not? I'll add those two component and subtract from my hoard.thinkslogically wrote:Ok, so I guess Dain's arcane focus is his wand, right?
Dain's spells that have material component requirements (that can't be covered by the arcane focus) are:
1. Find familiar (needs that brass brazier)
2. Illusory script (needs a lead-based ink worth at least 10gp that the spell consumes)
3. Glyph of warding: Requires incense and powdered diamond worth at least 200 gp, which the spell consumes.
I don't see your components listed on you sheet, so I assume you haven't purchased them yet? They will need to come out of your starting gold though.
I'm assuming everyone else has checked their spell lists for components with a gold cost? If they're not on your sheets when you enter the dungeon, I'll be assuming you don't have them

Re: MotBM (OOC)
You don't have to take any of those spells if you don't want them, you still have time to switch.
Wizards can choose any spells from the wizard list as you level, so if you don't think you'll use Illusory Script, you're welcome to something else. Just as long as your choices are locked in before the start of the game, that's fine

Re: MotBM (OOC)
This is where the problem comes in. I don't have the list of same level spells. I'm not even sure what level illusory script is. If lightning or fireball is the same level, I'd be willing to sub one of those I guess. Otherwise, we could just roll with it and see how inventive I could get. Glyph I kinda wanta keep. It has...potential.

Re: MotBM (OOC)
Can you access this website, Lurks? It has all the spells in the game, searchable by class and level.
https://donjon.bin.sh/5e/spells/
If not: Illusory Script is 1st level, so you'd have to swap it with something else (I'd recommend unseen servant )

Nope. Firewall is pretty fierce. If it even LOOKS game related, it'll block it. Sure, we can go with unseen servant.

Re: MotBM (OOC)
Ah, too bad. If you want some other suggestions there's also Absorb Elements, Ice Knife, Sleep, Silent Image, etc...
I mainly suggested Unseen Servant because it's a good Ritual, so you don't need to worry about preparing it most days.
(Also it was my next choice, and i could copy it from you if we traded spells at any point )

Never underestimate the paranoia of the Federal IT specialists! It's definitely tighter than when I last worked for them. Normally I'd make a game of trying to work around it, but I'm almost a little nervous to do so right now.

I can take a look once I get home. My personal PC isn't under the same firewall rules...at least not yet.
