Looking back at the Gliscor, Phil begins to talk to it, "Ok you have shown that your stronger then us... I'm sorry that we attacked you..." Phil says in a tone that sounds like someone who just got caught doing something wrong.
"We'll leave you alone if you leave us alone." Phil says as he tries to wipe sand out of his eyes.
"Sage, Pansage?" Paul says looking back at Phil.
"I don't want to risk your life, you look pretty banged up already."

Chuck finishes scanning the Pokemon and then sits down. He withdraws the other half ration from his pocket and rubs it against a PokeBall. He then rolls that pokeball over the path to Scorch and tosses him the rest of the half ration. Alright, Scorch, let's see how it likes that, oh and have a bite to eat for being such a good sport.

1st Day, First Month, 1694

Annabelle nods her agreement with the ÔÇÿleave the giant red things aloneÔÇÖ plan, taking a moment to scan one of the Insects with her own Pok├®Dex, but it seems that is not to be.

Two of the silver Insects move towards the furthest of the eleven-foot-tall-ish Wilds and snap at it with their mandibles. One hits its mark causing their much larger target to lift its head to the sky and roar. All other Pok├®mon but its equally oversized companion flinch and look slightly shaken at the sound.

The great creatureÔÇÖs attention then turns to one of its attackers, though neither Trainer is able to make out what, if anything, happens between those two.

The third of the Insects rushes the second oversized Wild, snapping its mandibles firmly at the creatures tail as it swings into range, seemingly stunning the foe with the unexpected attack.

You You little bully! Annie calls out, pointing towards the third Insect, Show him what we think of bullies, Maggie." The Buizel nods once and takes a few steps forward before opening her mouth and giving a firm shout Zel! causing her target to flinch from the nearly invisible ripple in the air.

Not under attack currently, Valant is content to stand there, though he does send a glance towards the Big Red that roared a few seconds before.

Already being attuned to a Pok├®Ball, Scorch is not sucked in when his Trainer rolls the empty Pok├®Ball over and the Pansear obediently picks it up with a quick grin on his face and a gleam in his eye, but he seems much happier with the food, which he slipped into his mouth before he hold the ÔÇÿBall over to the long-nosed blue-ish thing.

ÔÇ£Phanpy!ÔÇØ the Wild cries happily, sniffing at the new, rounder offering and touching it with its trunk and quickly touching it.

The ÔÇÿBall activates on contact with an unowned Pok├®mon and Scorch drops it as it begins to shake furiously. A few seconds later, the pulsating red light glows steadily, before fading, indicating that the one within failed to break free.

Yes, that worked. No, it is not happy with you.
Not a ÔÇ£Loyalty 0ÔÇØ level of unhappy, but not a ÔÇ£Loyalty 2ÔÇØ level, which is where I default if they were caught in honourable battle. Like your other critter.
{The Loyalty level is thus uber secret for both. }

Just a reminder that the Pok├®Dex file won't be updated for either 'mon until you check them out ICly. Even the "owned" field needs you to introduce yourself somehow as their new Trainer (even if you don't use that term) for your PC to actually have it sink in that he "owns" more Pok├®mon.

But you do get the XP right away. So Scorch gets another 10 from that capture. (You can't split it with your other capture, since it didn't fight this one.)

ItÔÇÖs another two hours, as Klif and LiÔÇÖl Green make their way to another exit from LaudsÔÇÖ crater, before the pair see a trio of blue-gray Pok├®mon digging through the snow to munch on some roots beneath the crust of snow and ice on the ground.

Still about eight meters away when they rounded the corner and saw them, Klif doesnÔÇÖt believe any of the Wilds have seen him or his Pansage yet.

ÔÇ£Madam,ÔÇØ the larger Pok├®mon offers as the sound of building doors opening comes to RichardÔÇÖs attention. Giving the smaller Wild another nudge, the Wormadam turns and moves away, quickly out of sight if nothing tries to stop it.

The smaller ball of sand looks at Richard with wide eyes and then nudges his shin, looking up once more and opening its mouth wide. ÔÇ£Burrrrmy. Bur-Burmy!ÔÇØ

Chuck glances around to make sure that nothing else is approaching. Let's get moving Scorch. With how active this place is, we probably shouldn't stick around too long, he says as he retrieves the PokeBall from the ground. Besides, the sooner we get off these mountains the sooner we can get a decent meal from foraging for food. Chuck is only now realizing how foolish it was to dip into his food reserves so early.

1st Day, First Month, 1694

Bennet misloads his crossbow, causing the bolt to fall out of the weapon and at the new TrainerÔÇÖs feet.

Annabelle sends her fellow Trainer a less than approving look for the weapon use and moves to stand on the far side of Maggie, fishing a Pok├®Ball from her pack and expanding it to full size with a tap of her finder. ÔÇ£DonÔÇÖt you worryÔǪ YouÔÇÖll be safe with meÔǪÔÇØ she murmurs to herself when she is finally close enough to toss the Pok├®Ball at theÔǪbullying victim.

The Pok├®Ball sails through the air, easily hits the incredibly large target, pulls it inside and starts to shake as it falls the five or six feet between the contact point and the ground.

Meanwhile, the second silver Insect sends a stream of sand into the eyes of the Red Big ÔÇÿmon not currently in a Pok├®Ball which is shaking and falling towards the ground. In reply, it scrapes at the ground and sends a wave of mud atÔÇöthat is overÔÇöits attacker. Then it takes a large step back, giving a loud cry of ÔÇ£GrooÔÇØ at the falling Pok├®Ball.

The first Insect, unsure what is happening but seemingly not liking it, sends its own stream of sand towards the Big RedÔÇÖs foreleg then books it south, stopping when it catches sight of Maggie, Valant and the two Trainers who are standing there.

The Pok├®Ball finally stop shaking as it hits the ground. ÔÇ£We have a new friend to meet, Maggie,ÔÇØ Annie smiles at her Buizel. ÔÇ£But first, we still need to deal with those bulliesÔǪÔÇØ

ÔÇ£BuizzzzÔǪÔÇØ Maggie offers a low Growl after she steps a bit further away from where Valant stands and faces the two Insects nearest her Trainer and new TeammateÔÇÖs Pok├®Ball.

In response, the third Insect rushes forward and clamps Maggie firmly in its mandibles, causing her to cry out in pain before the WildÔÇÖs grip slips.

Not one to really find a reason to think on things too hard, Valant ignore the possible threat of the nearer Insects and instead gives the second one a look as it turns away from the mud and getting it to click its mandibles uncertainly.

Picking up his second newly filled Pok├®Ball, ChuckÔÇÖs eyes fall upon the spot where the ÔÇÿCubeÔÇÖ was digging about. Making his way to the overturned snow, he finds a few plants with edible roots, though theyÔÇÖd probably be better in a stew than raw.

Higher of INT (for remembering where youÔÇÖve heard are good places to look) or WIS (for having a feel of where to look) both work.

Though that is specific to the Survivalist Advanced Class, I believe. So if you do find things, it would be less than a Survivalist would. You beat 15 with your 17+2=19, so you get enough food to feed Chuck for a day. YouÔÇÖd have to make camp and melt snow at this time of year, though, as you didnÔÇÖt get high enough to stumble upon a stream (though people might do that without trying at times).

Which direction is Chuck heading? If memory serves, he was relatively near the City, though thatÔÇÖll be confirmed once I track down everyoneÔÇÖs starting and current times.

1st Day, First Month, 1694

The Gliscor swoops down and, ignoring Phil, looks Paul in the eyes. The Pansage just patiently stands there, meeting the GliscorÔÇÖs eyes for the full three seconds the Wild stares him down before the Wild turns and sends a blast of sand towards the two smaller Pok├®mon who seem to finally clue into the GliscorÔÇÖs displeasure and start to fly away. The larger Pok├®mon follows behind, ensuring the other keep moving away from the Trainer.

Paul is looking up at his Trainer, a hand upon the teen's knee. "Sage..." he offers before digging out the pair of stingers form his fur...and flesh.

Encounter ended. I am giving you half XP for the big one (180 XP), but nothing for the three smaller ones, since the Gliscor basically dealt with those. That should get Paul to midway to Lv7.

Phil can get the last +1 penalty out of his eyes just in time to see the three Wilds turning around a sand dune.

1st Day, First Month, 1694

ÔÇ£Burmy, the adaptable worm,ÔÇØ RichardÔÇÖs Pok├®Dex offers, just as the Wild touches the Pok├®Ball, which snaps shut without even a shake. ÔÇ£Burmy can be found in multiple environments and are nearly constantly reforming a coat of camouflage from whatever they can find nearby. When they evolve into Wormadam, female Burmy permanently absorb their Burmy coat into their bodies. {Note: This Burmy is currently camouflaged for a Beach, Desert or Mountain environment.}ÔÇØ

When Richard sends the creature back out, his Pok├®Dex instantly displays basic information on the newly captured Burmy. She looks up at him and hops a few times in place, ÔÇ£Bur. Burmee!ÔÇØ

When two boys, both younger than Richard and each with Pok├®Balls on their belts, turn the corner of a nearby building, the newest member of RichardÔÇÖs Team hides behind his leg.

Being entrusted by a Wild Pok├®mon with the case of its offspring makes Richard feel even more able to read the moods and needs of the Pok├®mon around him.

"Here let me heal you up." Phil reaches into his pack and pulls out a potion to use on Paul.
As he opens his pack he sees the egg. "Oh no!I forgot about the egg!" He quickly looks it over making sure it didn't get cracked.

If it wasn't cracked

"Whew, that lucky. I need to be more careful unto this thing hatches."

If it's cracked

"Ahh! What should I do?" He will then proceed to see if he can pad the case for the egg any better.

Phil packs the egg back into his bag, then proceeds to continue to on his way towards the forest.

Annabelle nods in agreement, ÔÇ£Oh yes, best to keep them safeÔǪÔÇØ just as BennetÔÇÖs Pok├®Dex speaks up.

ÔÇ£Groudon, the living earth Pok├®mon. The most powerful members of this Pok├®mon species is said to have power over the formation of new land.ÔÇØ

AnnabelleÔÇÖs ÔÇÿDex screen lights up as well and she offers, ÔÇ£TheyÔÇÖre Steel Bug TypeÔǪ Durants, Bennet. Be careful!ÔÇØ

The glances at Maggie and holds up a Pok├®Ball, but doesnÔÇÖt recall the Buizel just yet. Instead, she sends Willy out, between herself and the nearby Durants.

Meanwhile, the furthest Durant rushes the Groudon once more, apparently too foolish, or fearless, to care about the difference in their respective mass. Once again, its mandibles hit their mark

This earns the insect the GroudonÔÇÖs attention, and the Steel Bug pauses for a beat, its legs shaking. Bennet catches a glimpse of the look as he moves into position, Pok├®Ball at the ready. That look would give pause to just about anything, he suspects.

Startled, perhaps, by the sudden appearance of a Swinub from a flash of red light, the first Durant rushes Willy, and heÔÇÖs knocked out before heÔÇÖs even had a chance to fully get his bearings.

ÔÇ£No!ÔÇØ Annabelle cries, watching her Pok├®mon crumple to the ground.

Perhaps sensing that its companion needs has things well in mandible, or that the other needs more help, or even that there is greater value in defeating the more formidable foeÔÇöHeck, who can say what a giant metal bug thinks!?ÔÇöthe third Durant turns away from the newly fainted Swinub and rushes the remaining Groudon, barely scratching its foot with its mandibles.

ÔÇ£Bennet!ÔÇØ Annie gasps, sending a look at the boy that finally guilts him into tossing his Pok├®Ball at the assailed Pok├®mon, and making contact. The Groudon is absorbed into the ÔÇÿBall which begins to shake violently as it falls towards the ground.

Looking at her fainted Teammate, the usually kindly Maggie shouts at the nearest Durant. The call of ÔÇ£Zel!ÔÇØ makes the insect stagger as its companion had mere seconds before.

Seeing all but one of the bugs have moved away, Valant is more than happy to move forward and run his tongue over the back of the creature, though it doesnÔÇÖt appear at first to have as much effect as he might have liked...until, that is, the Durant attempts to take a half-step away to break the contact and finds itself frozen in place.

1st Day, First Month, 1694 [08:02]

About an hour later, having made surprisingly good time, and with a bit of luck, Chuck notices that the trail is sloping gently downward, and he soon notices sand in the distance.

He also notices four Pok├®mon. One is a six-foot long orange-red thing with smoking mountains on its back. It is engaged directly in combat with a creature that is just slightly shorter, balancing its pale pink body with a gray shell on its tail.

Nearby, huddled near a large rock and with their path to the Beach blocked by the battle are two slightly smaller pink Pok├®mon who appear to be similar to the larger one, though their tails sport no adornments.

Scorch looks at the battling Wilds, blinks, then turns to his Trainer for direction.

The two battlers are about eight meters away when Chuck spots them (within scanning range), with the two smaller Wilds about five meters past that (not in range unless you can get clear line of sight, which would involve getting close to the combat).

On the Habitat map, Chuck is where the Beach and Mountains meet, to the south of Mattins.

With Klif and LiÔÇÖl Green now standing in their midst, if the Wilds didnÔÇÖt know they were there before, they certainly do now!

Klif holds back for a beat, allowing his Pansage to make the first attack. LiÔÇÖl Green misses his first target, but strikes the second.

The Trainer then follows in his StarterÔÇÖs wake, striking the same target as he comes to a stop on the other side.

Remaining where they are, all three off the Wilds take long, deep breaths.

1st Day, First Month, 1694 [15:04]

ThereÔÇÖs nothing strange about PhilÔÇÖs eyes still tearing up a bit as heÔÇÖd made a quick job of cleaning the sand out of them, but the comforting ÔÇ£Sage, pan-pansageÔÇØ from Paul makes him think that Egg and its case are fine. After all, he had never been hit by anything harder than streams of sand. Thankfully.

Paul sighs as the Potion is applied, his wounds closing and his fur even looking a little brighter than whey theyÔÇÖd first met.

Phil presses onward, Paul never far from his side as the pair continue on their mostly north-easterly direction.

Three hours later, the pair start to see the occasional tree coming out of the mountain, slowly supplementing the small bushes which has appeared an hour earlier.

One turns to Paul and starts to speak, motioning wildly as it speaks, ÔÇ£Saw, awkawk!ÔÇØ

After a moment, Paul turns to Phil and points to the blue Pok├®mon before pantomiming a sparring match.

No actual damage will be done if you accept this challenge. When one challenger is ÔÇ£subduedÔÇØ down to 0 or less effective HP, they will concede the match.

XP will be awarded as normal, but you canÔÇÖt continue to another challenger if youÔÇÖre defeated.

Either Phil or Paul can take part (or both). IÔÇÖm counting these ÔÇÿmons as honourable Trainers in so far as the ÔÇ£XP while watchingÔÇØ rule goes.

Of course, you could always go after them in a more conventional way. I'd just seen this in another forums PokTA game and, seeing the size of the group the dice gave, and the nature of the 'mons, I figured I'd offer it as an option.

Annabelle nods once more, recalling the fainted Swinub and moving to stand beside her newly filled Pok├®Ball on the ground.

Meanwhile, BennetÔÇÖs newly thrown Pok├®Ball absorbs the nearest Durant and lands without even a shake, the light a steady red for a beat before fading. This whole capturing thing isnÔÇÖt as hard as some might make it out to be!

Both remaining Durants charge; the first going after Bennet, throwing sand into his eyes, the second aiming for his Starter and catching Valant within its mandibles, though it seems like it barely managed to get a hold of him.

Maggie just stands there, keeping her distance and catching her breath.

When ValantÔÇÖs flames strike its target, the Durant let out shrill cry of ÔÇ£RaaaaaANT!ÔÇØ before passing out from the effects of the flames.

So that does indeed do x4 damage on a hit for a Bug/Steel. Which, when the GM grows a brain and remembers to apply SDEF to attacks, does not kill it, but does knock it out.

Taking the initiative, Klif kicks a foot at his previous target, striking the Wild firmly in its side and getting a cry of ÔÇ£Laaaax!ÔÇØ for his effort.

With a grin and a nod, LiÔÇÖl Green dashes across the battlefield again, his claws swinging to either side and finding their marks.

The already injured Wild crumples to the ground, unconscious, while the second one grunts out something along the lines of ÔÇ£UchÔÇØ.

Moving as one, the two conscious Pok├®mon seem to decide that the Pansage is the greater threat and both rush him, lowering their shoulders at the last moment. Both hit their mark, and LiÔÇÖl GreenÔÇÖs grin slipped from his face as he, too, slumps to the ground.

LiÔÇÖl Green took 23 damage from #1 and another 22 from #2. Ouch! {Yes, I applied 5 DEF to both attacks, and Normal on Grass does x1 damage. }

[If it helps any, Pok├®mon who are rendered unconscious still gain 1/2 of their share of the XP, if a foe they've faced is defeated. (But that is up to the PCÔÇÖs choice if there are multiple ÔÇÿmons in the fight, since it ÔÇ£wastesÔÇØ the unused XP. {If a foe gave 100 XP and two ÔÇÿmons were fighting it, each would get 50 XP if they were both standing when it fell. If not, one could still get 50 XP while the other got 25 XP; or the one left standing could get the full 100 XP, and the one that fainted didnÔÇÖt learn anything from its defeat that time around.}) Mainly this is to give weaker Pok├®mon who are knocked out but still living a chance to still grow stronger, but not as quickly as if they made it through the battle.]

One of the two Wilds turns to wave at the others, and five of them form a loose ring, watching the first blue Pok├®mon getting set to square off against the Pansage.

It tilts its head to the side as the Human points the red thing at it, but then quickly turns its attention to Paul and returns the PansageÔÇÖs bow.

It rushes forward as Paul straightens up, hoping for the early victory. It swings one hand with a firm cry of ÔÇ£Sawk!ÔÇØ

It actually looks rather surprised when Paul stumbles back and bows to reflect the fact that he was bested.

With a bounce in its step, the Wild turns to look at the others, bouncing happily and making quite an undignified show of it all.

Apparently annoyed with the display, the ÔÇÿmon at the far end of the ring steps forward and swings its hand at the other, hitting it. The one who bested Paul shakes its head and hits back. Apparently a mistake, as the other hits it, and drop it to the ground.

With a snort, the victor moves back towards the tree, leaving the other to pick itself from the dust. Just as PhilÔÇÖs Pok├®Dex states: ÔÇ£Sawk, the Blue Masters. Exceptional fighters from the moment they first hatch, Sawk can often be found training to prepare for combat against their ancestral foes, the Red Masters.ÔÇØ

And, yes, the Proud little lout needed to get knocked off its peg after that Paul did make it gain two levels, though, and the second one gained a level kicking its newly leveled butt!

This time Curtis stops nodding as soon as Malcolm looks back at Richard, and an uncertain look flicks across the younger boyÔÇÖs face.

As the pair approach, Aqua moves to stand beside her Trainer, taking up a position that offers Sandy extra cover from the unkind attention of the younger Trainers.
