Theory: The Big Red Button
(title deliberately obtuse for spoilers)
(credit to FliesManyKites for the idea which I am shamelessly reposting - see here)
So, self destructing Maze. I don't think it'll happen -I think that Thunt wants to resolve this quickly and climatically- (plus if they did a second run they could just walk out the way they came, so they can't catch up to the GAP) but it'd be really, really cool. FMK trigger a reset, but the Maze is falling apart because of the damage the Oblivion Holes have caused - and worse, they're getting bigger. So they remember their previous run, but they have to move fast through disintegrating traps and even moving through areas from other group's runs to reach the end and escape. You've got collapsing corridors, ever expanding Oblivion Holes, and a general atmosphere of panic and doom, not unlike some later parts of Titanic and Alien. Plus, this has old parts of the Maze twisted into more broken and deadly experiences, like System Shock (most won't get the reference, please check this out) the early part of Portal 2, but with more danger and excitement.
Again, likely won't happen, but how cool would it have been, and what are your thoughts?

I would love to see this, actually. If you've ever seen the film version of Galaxy Express 999 from '79, near the end the main protagonist Tetsuro manages to destroy the Planet Maetel, which is mostly hollow. His escape while the world is literally falling apart is what I envision.

Hey! Why are you reading this? It's bad for your eyes, and there's nothing to see here; no words of wit or sage like advice.... Nope, none of that crap... Still here? Well, I guess you can stay for a little while, but no touching. Ok, MAYBE a little bit of touching, but don't expect a kiss... Oh, and don't expect me to cuddle afterwards, either. This is purely physical in nature, and you can't REALLY want something serious after everything we've been through? Fine... 20 seconds of heavy petting, and that's IT! Annnnnnnd done...

It doesn't seem likely, as they have currently been in the maze for around 2 years, and Thunt probably wants to get out of it for a while. It would be cool to get drawings of some of the trap rooms, or images of stuff like that in the next book, though. Some extras are always nice.
Thanks to Arch Lich Burns for the avatar, and Mnementh for the mustache.

Re: Theory: The Big Red Button
I can't help but feel that Thunt would twist this to end badly.
I can imagine them getting through and finally reaching the end. We seem them grab the Teapot and get a first-person view of running into the red circle as the treasure chamber itself begins to collapse.
Then we get a few panels of voices, inferring their speakers, talking about how they just barely made it out. And then we get the final panel of Kin and Forgath walking away from wherever the circle deposited them, eternally unaware that there was ever a Minmax...

I'm veto-ing this as an option. We've already had to lose 1/2 a beard to an o-hole. I do not want to see an entire person.

He means entire persons that we like; non-156 don't mean squat to us.

Do you suppose that whomever built this thing checks on it from time to time?

One of my lamer theories is that the statue is his avatar and he's going to be very pissed that somebody has been poking holes in his toy.
