Not yet, but I've been wanting to try it out. Do you have any more details on when (timezone) your game will run and in what format? (E.g. forum / roll20)

It would be forum-based, no particular time limit.thinkslogically wrote:Not yet, but I've been wanting to try it out. Do you have any more details on when (timezone) your game will run and in what format? (E.g. forum / roll20)

Re: Anyone here play Call of Cthulhu?
Even for Call of Cthulhu, I want more than one player. Maybe two, certainly three, but not one. We don't need a full "party" with the four D&D archetypes, but I don't want to go to the effort of constructing a full game session unless the players outnumber myself.thinkslogically wrote:Sounds good to me then Count me in!

Aye that's fair. This forum always gets pretty quiet in the summer. It might pick up in a few weeks.

I've heard of Cthulhu and it's sounded like it would be very interesting, but not yet had an opportunity to take part in any of it. I think you can count this one in as well.

Two players is enough to start making plans, though I'd rather have at least one more before we start. You guys can start talking about character creation. I would encourage you to collaborate between yourselves and come up with a cohesive group.

Do you have any guidance on what you're looking for or what works? I'm completely new to this system so some pointers would be awesome

Re: Anyone here play Call of Cthulhu?
Did you have an era/place in mind for the setting?
As for our chosen victims, I've picked up the quick starter booklet and I was just thinking of using one of the templates from there. Archaeologist, Author, or Journalist sounds most interesting to me, and a nosy journalist would have no problems mixing with any types of people if there was a good story involved. The other two, would maybe take a little more convincing to leave their workshops (or lovely pile of old dirt), but don't seem like they'd be too hard to coordinate. Should we have known each other previously for this group?

Re: Anyone here play Call of Cthulhu?
I'm fairly easy about the professions. The little I do know about these games is that lethality is fairly high and it may not be worth getting too attached
A (photo)journalist / disgraced or ambitious professor (of say anthropology or whatever) pair could be interesting. I wouldn't mind playing either of those, and the prof could be a good contact for the journalist.

Abominational eldrich horrors of twisted flesh seeming to writhe in agony With each movement of it's sickening form, it's lair is where ieven the most bold and brave dare not tread for of the crazed minds of madmen cultists, horrors beyond the sights thst has ever seen and will drive you insane? I may have heard of it. Never played though. I think it would be great thing to play if for the only reason to make horrible abominations. >:3

Evil cuttlefish spawn and the prospect of a grisly devolution to insanity (or a worse fate): the two reasons I'm here.

Re: Anyone here play Call of Cthulhu?
If you don't mind another noob, I'd be interested in trying it. I've downloaded the public available rule set already (had the idea of trying to start one myself....if I ever found the time to build a "dungeon"). I could use some good nightmare fuel.

I've just been using the starter booklet. Seems to have a nice amount of information for all us beginners.

Yep. That's the one. The company site also has a downloadable solo module if you want to practice. Haven't tried it yet, though.

I believe that journalist is one category. I guess mine is probably pretty cut and dry. Besides, every good adventure party needs a medic.

I'm leaning more towards Archaeologist/Antiquarian. Now, has anyone seen my mummy around here?

Re: Anyone here play Call of Cthulhu?
Your experience unraveling other peoples' crimes has given you the perfect set of skills for hiding the bodies of all the people who doubted you could become a cultist....no one will ever find those poor souls...Arch Lich Burns wrote:...Okay now that I actually looked at it police detective. With a medic and a detective on board, I wouldn't mind re-flavoring the archaeologist to go into forensics (it's a similar set of skills, the mummies will just be a bit fresher). Of course, that also might steer us down the path of crime drama gone horribly....
