IRC: Inner Rebellion of Complex (Paranoia)
In the far future, mankind obeys the orders of a self-important accounting AI turned master of a significant portion of humanity, or mankind gets zapped into ashes by another mankind. The Alpha Complex, under the protection of Friend Computer, is a "thriving" underground city of treacherous tech and even more treacherous people.
The maintenance and day-to-day law enforcement of this sprawling community is left to the Troubleshooters, whose general job description is to find trouble, and then shoot it. Not necessarily in that order.
'trouble' is usually defined as the actions of commie mutant traitors, which would be much easier to find if everyone wasn't in at least one of those demographics.
So catch the commies, shoot the mutants, burn the traitors! Just make sure they don't see you using your mutant powers, owning anything above your clearance, exercising your secret society connections, or being dissatisfied with your lot in life, after all, Happiness is Mandatory!
So I am running a Paranoia-setting type game, which if you didn't know is all about the betrayal and subterfuge. Everybody is basically that world's equivalent of policemen, the twist being that they are ALL traitors and mutants. So yes. Taking recruits about now.

What will be your game style? Paranoia can be played a few ways. Zap happy IIRC is one.
You forgot to mention that every player has so many clones, so 1 death is no big deal. Was it 9 total clones? I forget. Wait, no, how could I forget. I've NEVER looked at the rules, honest.

There is but one rule: obey Friend Computer. Anyone saying otherwise is a mutant communist traitor and must die. I happily volunteer myself for the task of eliminating them.
In other words, joining this.

Re: IRC: Inner Rebellion of Complex (Paranoia)
I read wikipedia article on the game today and it stated that most wounds are fatal, so those clones can be considered as hit points. It also said there is 6 clones.ThroughTheWell wrote:You forgot to mention that every player has so many clones, so 1 death is no big deal. Was it 9 total clones? I forget.
I think I win join.

Re: IRC: Inner Rebellion of Complex (Paranoia)
Im curious just enough to say I'm interested! I've never played Paranoia before so, I'm not sure about the rules. A quick google search should help answer some of those questions.

Don't tell the Computer that you're looking up the Rules!?96harothfee wrote:A quick google search should help answer some of those questions.
Knowledge of the rules is treasonous! (If I remember the rules correctly )

It has a few very vague rules. Read wikipedia article on the game to feel setting, that's enough.96harothfee wrote:A quick google search should help answer some of those questions.

Re: IRC: Inner Rebellion of Complex (Paranoia)
Well, I think it's about time that I can ask for characters.
NOTE ABOUT NAMES:
There are eight attributes:
Strength: Well duh.
Agility: Also duh.
Dexterity: Also duh.
Endurance: Also duh.
Moxie: Intelligence and figuring stuff out.
Chutzpah: Charisma, basically.
Mechanical Aptitude: Working with the notoriously-treacherous machinery of the Alpha Complex.
Power: Manipulating your Mutant Power.
You have 60 points to allocate throughout these.
You may choose between several Service Groups, which represent the group you serve in when not troubleshooting.
Internal Security: Shortened as Intsec, this is basically the police. You may choose to reveal your status as an agent or pose as a member of another group.
Power Services: You manage the power supplies in the complex.
Central Processing: Bureaucracy.
Armed Forces: The 'army'.
Tech Services: The engineers of the complex.
Research And Development: The madmen who create and design the insane mechanisms that run the complex.
Production, Logistics, and Commisary: They make stuff and fill orders.
Housing Preservation and Development, Mind Control: Keeping the place clean, and often assisting Intsec with their third function.
Service groups give you randomly generated skills based on whatever group you choose.
Mutant Powers
Randomly generated.
Secret Societies
Randomly generated.
Skills: OH THIS IS GONNA HURT:
AGILITY SKILLS
CHUTZPAH SKILLS
DEXTERITY SKILLS
MECHANICAL SKILLS
MOXIE SKILLS
Phew. Anyway, you get five points to put in these skills, and you can't just save them for later.
I think that's about it.

Hmmm. Question time.
Do you think the people who posted and then disappeared mysteriously have dropped out, or have they just not noticed?
