Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Not sure what type/theme of dungeon you are going for at the moment, but if it's intelligent creatures I would have them reinforce the place especially where the players were earlier. Either with new traps or change in terrain in order to give a larger advantage to the denizens. Alternatively launch counter attacks during their long rest outside.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Yes, thats a much better save than 10 thanks for the info!
Agree with theis on having the monsters learn strategy, though it's far easier said than done in the great of the moment
You could even have a few sneak out at night and basically pincer the PCs between the exit and a new force in front. Make the force inside the dungeon a little weaker to keep them moving forwards until the rear guard can close a door/ seal / whatever and they're stuck in the dungeon trap forever!!

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
The first time they ran I hit them with an ambush and again when they tried to rest. This second time I had a group arriving/waiting for them to come out. They solved this by throwing themselves off the backside of the 'temple'.
They are not going to get far unmolested. Next time they go in the way is going close behind them and there will be reinforcements. I honestly was just surprised they decided to run away again.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
thats awesome! yeah, players will always do weird stuff and pick up on all kinds of random shit you say or hint at. I noticed that my players in my old campaign started running away from virtually every monster I showed them a picture of. I thought that was weird

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
yes I mean, we're obviously SUPER good at paying attention to all your hints in the Sundered Way and acting on them in sensible ways, but it's definitely true of all those OTHER players out there
I do think that sometimes the obvious path is picked up on and then ignored because it's obviously too good to be true and definitely a trap.

That's a possibility. I was going to have to get creative if you all left Rodgeir's character to die on that rock...

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Hey folks! I know things have been a little slow lately, which I apologise for. In part it's because I need a little thinking time to work out the druid group, and partly it's because I recently learned how to use OneNote kind of properly, and I'm trying to get all my game notes organised into there to make everything run more smoothly moving forward.
So I've not forgotten you guys, I'm just working behind the scenes a bit at the minute. I'll get you an update in the next day or so though.

Burns, can you clarify what book you're referring to? Gwen hasn't been gifted a Tome from her patron yet, if that's what it was?

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Ok, I'll give Syli another day or so to decide if she's doing anything else and then I'll move the druid group along. Syli can exist in a quantum state for the purposes of the meeting while she decides if she makes it back to the others in time, or takes off for tiger-oriented adventures with a dwarf NPC.
EDIT: By the way, don't forget that Merric found a very nice cloak in the stinky plant-beast during that encounter that you guys haven't really checked out yet, and also a bunch of alchemists fire.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Lizard folk- just added an edit to my post, but seems the internet thinks I'm wrong and animal attacks count as weapons. If you can find anything official from e.g. sage advice, we'll use that ruling moving forwards.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
I think bite, claws and so forth go under natural weapons? At least they did in 3.5 which in many ways seems to be the basis of 5e. But isn't important unless they hissed vital exposition the last few rounds
There's something about it here.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Ok, I think I found it. This is a good explanation, but goddamn if this isn't just stupid wording on their part:
Also, I'm going to have to actually look up the PHB for the wording on this one, because the internet describes it as both damage from weapons, and weapon attacks depending on where you look.
For now, I'll stick with the ruling as-is and update in due course.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
Hmmm, when you mentioned the weapons part, I looked up the spell and the place I found it just said "from weapons", which in 5e is a different distinction than "weapon attacks". (Noun vs modified verb)
The PHB uses "weapon attacks" in the spell description, which is a broader term used to distinguish between that and "spell attacks". Unarmed strike is not considered a weapon, but using an unarmed strike is (I believe) considered a weapon attack.

Perfect! Ok, if that's what's in the PHB, we'll go with that moving forwards. Man that was a confusing journey
For now, well just assume Merric got slightly worse poisoning for some reason.

Re: The Wandering Archipelago (OOC)
So what exactly is Syli up to at the moment? Is she just going to enjoy another day as a jaguar, or is the plan to effectively leave the party and head to the tiger ruins? It's not completely clear how long any of this would take, but you could assume it would be at least a few days - she wouldn't be able to pop out for the day and be back by teatime for instance.

She's not just running out on the party; she was hoping Rue might be able to teach her something else before she has to leave the sanctuary.
