Not really. Haven't you been to IKEA? It's pretty upfront about being a gateway to hell.

The ones we have here are mazes inside to help better hide the demonic nature of the place...
And cheep cinnamon buns and coffee keep the denizens of D.C. too distracted to notice anything as paltry as damnation...of course this is hell so maybe its just a fast way to get here?

For knowledge...I am assuming that Cary in her work on the Stenek matter heard about the small woman with the parrot and/or weird hat in various events in the city. Which is what I was diving at in the begining of my last post...

Re: Tests and Trials OOC
She may have heard that but those that know she was involved wouldn't have been likely to report her involvement. She was, compared to Lurn and Ves, flying under the radar. She did sign some documents, as did Jaq, but they wouldn't have been made available to Cary or her investigation...for reasons.

Re: Tests and Trials OOC
I was primarily thinking about the city guards and prefect's guards...and any residents not effected because they were drinking something other than well water...
she is going to stick out the most of all of them.
What she did in those adventures, I agree...Cary knows nothing about them...

She would definitely show up in reports, if only as a side note, but maybe not her accent so much as her appearance. That and she was hanging out with a firbolg!

On the army side:
We stormed the field, taking on a hob general in her tent, managed to capture her and some maps and other documents, party got hit pretty hard by mage's fireball, lost a few conscripts, and got run off by wyverns.
Retreated to the woods, eventually made out way around and got in touch with Duchy command. Battle wrapped up, hobs run off, though not without losses.
Put on guard and patrol duties, etc. as the army works on getting things sorted out, Jaq's hand getting worse. Turns out the grandfather of the girl you guys saved back in Stenrek is the general of the Duchy's army, he has a meeting with Jaq. Lurn makes friends with the grave detail by shifting dirt about.
Kroshav found by his mentor, who tries to help Jaq with his arm, but only able to reveal that it is a form of possession, and is much worse than it appeared. He then takes Kroshav to his meditation and review. Four of The Five (plus Pelor, as a non-voting guest) think he's ready to be a Paladin. Torm not so sure, think's he's too prideful. Ends up getting in, but being on a 1 year probation. So now instead of 'not yet a paladin', he's 'a paladin, mostly'.
The squad, among others, are praised and awarded, we got some pretty tree ornaments. Found out that the company Gray (Tom the farmer's son) was conscripted into was wiped out except for two members.
Jolly is trying to stick to the expectations that Ves set for him, regarding drinking. Dama the tiefling archer may have a thing for him. He seems awkwardly reciprocating.
Lurn worked his connections to get Jaq seen by high clerics of Kelemvor and Lathander, who agree to help. Decide that the best course of action is to lop off the tainted arm, and grow him a new one later. They do so, with Kroshav, Lurn, Jolly, and a few local clerics in attendance, which causes shadowy figures and something more solid to pop out of the arm, and we are currently fighting them.
Joe may have murdered an old woman, but she deserved it. Burns can expand on those details.

Re: Tests and Trials OOC
Alright Joe kinda got in a fight with a mean hag tha spout’d racist poop at her n tha hag had the crowd riled up against Joe. It was broken up before Joe threw bad mean words at her.
She was going to leave town today, but it turns out the hag is dead by mysterious circumstances and was a suspect of murder. Joe was cleared as a suspect, and is now trying to help find the murderer before someone innocent takes the blame. Apparently Joe is still suspicious to the new party member.
And if she killed the hag that would be news to her!

Re: Tests and Trials OOC
Likely because instead of answering her question about the incident... Joe escalated the old woman's actions to appear to be a 'threat' and then tried to incriminate others?
Geeze who does that?...oh yeah people with something to hide...including actual suspects...
Realizing that IC my character knows almost nothing about Joe other than she is called Captain Joe...She actually thinks she lives in this area and is a refugee because no one has told her different

Thought the same thing when Lurn said, "My pilgrimage carried me to many cities in recent times, including Stenrek, but I left through a main gate, in full view and unmolested."

Re: Tests and Trials OOC
Hey, been in the hospital for a couple days and am actually still there. Hopefully back home tomorrow and then it might be a couple more days before I get back to playing/running. Not Corona.
Oh and not having read anything but the last post - the general knew who Lurn was as soon as he said his name. The whole trying to avoid a deception roll by very careful wording is always fun though!

Re: Tests and Trials OOC
Joe did answer her question about the incident. And if she was guilty why stay here where it is very likely she would get caught? She could have left shortly after hearing about the incident and not offer any help with the case.Quarg wrote: ↑Thu Mar 26, 2020 12:11 pm Likely because instead of answering her question about the incident... Re: Tests and Trials OOC
I had a feeling the general basically knew who Lurn was. No point denying his presence in Stenrek, best he can do is press the point that he didn't cause problems.
And Burns, if she were guilty, it could be a ploy to find a way to pin it on someone else, so there's no loose end?

Yeah, that's kind of how I took it when Lurn said it, just the being very clear about not being detained sort of confirms that you're the one they were asking about!

He's not that smart, okay? Though maybe that sort of thing would fall more under being wise than intelligent. Though regardless, I'd have to consider it first, and I'm neither.

And I am kind of back! Long story short, I can now confirm there is nothing physically wrong with my brain - that they could see. I am having trouble focusing on words still, things blur a bit, so it takes longer than normal to write/read.
Thanks for the summary Spider.
@Thinks, I didn't invite Quarg to boot you! Ves has more or less faded to the background but she can find her way into the investigation in a way you think she would?

I mean, hearing that Joe was getting jammed up over a murder charge would probably catch her interest.
