Yeah, most people would, but Forgath wouldn't. His habit when dealing with problems created by Minmax's extreme brand of idiocy has always been to roll his eyes, say something sarcastic that usually whooshes right over Minmax's head, then do something practical about the problem to get them both out of the mess. He might threaten, but he'd never actually consider abandoning Minmax. This little tale illustrates how they've always interacted.

(Oh, and this is pre-Brassmoon Minmax relating his perception of what happened. Not only is it Minmax talking, he was very drunk at the time. Unreliable narrator, to the... uh, max. So take everything in his story with a large-ish spoonful of salt. Especially about the elven maiden.)

For that matter, there's also a very good possibility that his elven maiden was /also/ a yak, and he was just too damn drunk to tell the difference.

Except that Forgath saw him leaving the bar with the elven girl?

The new statues head and hairdo does not look like her Elven hair.
So I'd dismiss that possibility.
And I think his punishment would be much harder than the possibility to get out on paying a fine.

I know, but I'm assuming Forgath is more responsible and a lot better at taking his alcohol, being a dwarf and all, to be able to tell that the girl wasn't a yak. And he says "when I saw you last night, you were leaving the tavern with that elf female", so he most definitely saw her. Doesn't mean he'd warn Minmax, but still!

Personally I think "shaving the yak" ought to be a euphemism for something, but really *don't* want to think about what.

Sure, he might have left the bar with a girl. But that doesn't mean that she stuck around for very long Heck, I know I'd leave you in s field of yaks to fend for yourself if you used the term "funky monkey love" in my close vicinity.

(Yes, even though I know we have no idea what was actually said since minmax was drunk off his ass)

This was my favorite small story, although it was a bit too short.
