From some of the posts I saw on BlueSky, she seems to have found someone who gifts specifically to trans people.
(I saw a "PM me" when she lamented about having to decide between feeding herself or getting the hormones treatment.)
I don't know if that's this person, or whether WearsHats put on his spending trousers again.
What a wedding gift.

(And tremendous energy bill has stacked up - yes, that hut has an isolation problem, plus high ceilings, but the wood for the stove also doesn't appear on the energy bill anyway)


And it looks like she put the drawing of the comic itself on hiatus for the TF story....
She's putting in too much effort for a fundraiser.

On 22nd of May, she had the first set date.
And the image is still not up, despite tomorrow (29th) already being another limit date and start of drawing of next page.

Are you suggesting Elli might have invented that donor, and donated the money herself to drum up a sense of extra value and urgency, while ensuring that Tempts Fate remains alive?

This is possible. Honestly, who would drop such a big amount of money for this and anonymously on top of that?

I've known people around the Goblins fandom who are that generous, so I believe it. (It is 100% not me, if anybody is wondering right now. I didn't even donate at all, because I'm broke.)

I wonder what it is about Elli, Goblins, web comics, and/or the world today that makes it so easy for these occasional donation drives to succeed so grandly - while the ongoing income from the project is insufficient to make a life. I don’t really have a theory, but it’s pretty striking.

It's such a weird and intensely parasocial relationship she has with an increasingly smaller and devoted following. I think it's a combination of an already pretty nerdy, introverted community, and the degree to how much of herself and her personal life she has over-shared with her readers, blurring the lines between "fan" and "friend" to the point where both creator and consumer seem to behave as if they owe a life-debt to each other instead of, like, the appropriate level of interest one might have in a webcomic.

That doesn't even begin to factor how hyper-sexual her presence and interaction with those same fans who've followed her for 20 years has become. Suddenly this person you've followed and supported this whole time is sharing nudes online, discussing her kinks and sex life, her only fans, showing pictures of the sex toys she uses on herself..

It's gotten to the point where "being a fan" of the comic not only involves reading and sharing the comic, but also paying her bills, paying her fun fund, giving a thumbs up to a picture of her butthole, subscribing to her onlyfans, describing how sexy she looks when she's fishing for compliments... Like, it's creepy. It's all creepy and unhealthy.

I avoid her OnlyFans page, for multiple reasons.
I also ignore her other posts in that regard.
On twitter, her having two separate accounts helped.

She is living too isolated, indeed, and that does not help her oversharing.

If half of what's Elli has shared about her financial issues, she cannot have done it herself.

But I am of the opinion, she should not try to advertise a comic suitable for minors, and on the same channel post about sexual acts.

Her gender and the issues flowing from her trans-situation is not a sexual act, but her talking about using vibrators is.

She got very thin-skinned.
Which I can also understand.
Especially since there are highest politicians attacking that community.

Maybe I'll take the hint and pack up.

Welcome to the club. She blocked me when I expressed my sympathy for her after the guy threatening to blackmail her with her nudes. I told I her I was sorry that happened, and suggested that if she wanted to prevent this from happening in the future, one thing that might help would be not making her OF free and for anyone to see what she posts. She told me she refuses to censor herself and that I obviously didn't care about her safety. And then just like that I was given the boot.

Fine, that's absolutely her freedom to block me, obviously. I really don't want to victim blame with situations like that, but she's not naive to her own steps on internet safety either. If she doesn't want people she doesn't trust to see private photos, then don't let them be freely available to the public. If she doesn't want strange men to talk sexually to you in dms, don't literally be the one to initiate sexual roleplay with those men. No one is entitled to sexually harass you or treat you poorly, but there are steps you can take to protect yourself from things you don't want to happen, whether it's who has access to photos of you, or who you choose to talk to intimately online, or the crippling anxiety you experience from taking on more work than you can handle.

She did TF0 (image of simple donation meter, and its history - new to me), TF1-TF3. The TF4 (mud-honey covered babes) she likely wants to add an explanatory note, as she's torn between simply skipping it, but also making everything available ^[1].

I just want to point out that the scale of the donations and the targets have blown so far out of proportion. With tempts fate 3, the max donations that it reached being just north of 600 dollars. And with the newest tf, we are sitting at 9000 dollars. That seems entirely absurd to me. For one that the community is still willing to bankroll this, but also that Elli can actually conceive the audacity to push such a number out. But that's just me.
