Dealt with pretty fast. Wonder if it'll have any long lasting consequences

Re: May 11, 2025 - Disintegrate
Well, that was pointless.
MinMax is not dead. He is clearly alive enough to complain about pain in the future, and he is not instantly "reduced to a pile of fine gray dust".
The villain is locked into the wall again. The only question that remains is what has the "cursed lighting" left MinMax and Kin with?
By any reasonable logic: Cosmetic damage/hp damage that will heal eventually.
Comic consequence logic: Probably kewl new powers (the angel clockroom comes to mind). Noone was hurt, and nothing of consequence was on the line.
Case in point: This was pointless.

(and yes, Herbert is a bad GM. Having a monster that has devoured whole realities in a minor dungeon room behind a wall cladding? Very undefeatable, apparently.... What will the boss-fight be, if such monsters are just "side-events"?)What?!
Nooo!
BTW: I like how future Minmax burns his hand while trying to get Oblivious into the next fight.
Another thing I like: another quick update! Nice!

Re: May 11, 2025 - Disintegrate
hey now don't say this combat was inconsequential, it will cause some scarring to make the characters even more complex looking and difficult to draw
also, really? that is what the "ah my hand" was about from future minimax? getting hit with disintegration? I thought that's a single target spell. how can it hit another target? is it because they are technically the same target existing in two instances at the same time?
that is WAY TOO convoluted.

Minmax exists at that moment of the spell at that space once, and with three hands...
Let's see if Kin remembers that and tells him to just pull it out once, so he can be healed of that before the next battle

Re: May 11, 2025 - Disintegrate
I thought it looked fine. The way Disintegrate was drawn here, it looked like it would hit someone reaching into the field. Not rules as written, but, certainly clear enough what was happening for me.
This new page… I’m worried. If it turns out to be the return of Tempts Fate we can get into all the reasons that’s a bad idea, but we don’t know that it is yet, so I’ll forebear.

Maybe streaming and finally getting the online games going she has been announcing ?
I must say, I miss that art-style. Seems much easier and quicker, and doesn't take much down of the Goblin's attraction.

From her Bluesky post, it's ‘something that we haven’t seen for a long, long time.’

Agreed.. Elli can barely handle a four panel page with 1 background nowadays... I don't see how extending herself to do literally anything beyond the bare minimum that she's already doing would do anything productive for her ..BiggestBlackest wrote: Tue May 13, 2025 3:24 am I thought it looked fine. Oh no...
After the now deleted outline of a final page (that was the payoff after a drive that produced enough money for the down payment of a HOUSE),Elli is returning to Tempts Fate?

I'm a bit out of the loop here, why is Temps Fate a bad thing? Technically asking for money never went away but now we'll at least get some extra comic for it ?

Re: May 11, 2025 - Disintegrate
It’s a good question, and the answer is more complicated than it needs to be, so I’ll not try to dig up specific memories and just say: the overall impression from fans was that they didn’t get ‘what they paid for.’ There’s some imprecision there, because Elli did produce some extra bonus stuff which was also not finished but shouldn’t count against her really - but the final paid-for page was also not finished if I remember right.
It also happened pretty shortly before the biggest breakdown, and I associate it with Elli trying something ambitious, getting enormously rewarded by the community, and then collapsing under the pressure.
IMO, it’s fine, whatever she wants to do to make some money, but I find Tempts Fate pretty boring and would rather the comic get to a point where I at least care what’s happening before she builds more side work into her schedule.

Re: May 11, 2025 - Disintegrate
It's a pity the Tempt's Fate comics are not easily accessible anymore.
Under the old design of the webcomic, she had a direct link to the older TF fundraisers.
The first (final) image (the comic page got longer and longer with every reached target - later she split the adventures into several pages):
And a link to the WebArchive TF first page, with a next button for the continuation of the "story":
https://web.archive.org/web/20180405043 ... pts-fate-1
Have fun reading them.
I found them interesting.
And at that time, Elli had a 2-3 comics/week update schedule, which she kept running during the first TFs.
(I saw that when I did the transcriptions, as they had the publication date in the name)
Starting with TF7, the readers also had to solve the puzzles as well, not only meet the funding targets...

It's also because this is the second attempt at reviving the series after the last fundraiser was unfinished. There were a series of extremely minimal sketches of someone trying to get him out of an extra dimensional prison, which were also unfinished IIRC.Writes-critically wrote: Wed May 14, 2025 3:32 am I'm a bit out of the loop here, why is Temps Fate a bad thing? I personally would have been happy if the series had just stopped at making Tempts immortal, 'cause where are you going to go from there?
